Course Requirements Mathematics A3

Code: BMETE90AX07

Instructor: István Kolossváry

Faculty of students: Civil Engineering Faculty

Attendance: Anyone absent from more than 4 classes during the semester will result in denial of faculty signature regardless of the reason of missing those classes.

Tests: There will be two midterm tests, 45 minutes each, for maximum 40 points each. Both will be held during the first half of class.

First one: Wednesday October 10 (6-th week)

Second one :Wednesday November 28 (13-th week)

Make up test during 14-th week. Comprehensive make up during the week of December 10.

Faculty signature: To get the faculty signature, besides the attendance requirements, each midterm test must reach at least 12 points (30% ). Any of them can be repeated on the make up test. The result of the make up will be taken even if it is worse than the previous attempt.

Those students, who can not get the faculty signature because of their poor performance during the tests, will have the opportunity to earn it by taking a comprehensive make up test on the week before the exam period (the week of December 10), in 90 minutes, for maximum 40+40 points. Exercises are from both topics, and 12 points must be reached in each part.

Exam: No final exam can be taken without faculty signature. The final exam is a test which lasts 90 minutes for 30+90 points.

Grading: Passing condition: in the final exam reach at least 9 points (30%) from the first 30 points and alltogether reach at least 48 points (40%), furthermore the total of the midterm tests and the final exam must reach 100 points (50%).

If a student has the signature from previous year, then 24 points will be considered as the sum of his/her total midterm test points. However, by retaking both midterm tests, this can be improved (in this case this last result is regarded as the midterm result).

Final grade:

0-99 Fail (1)

100-119 Pass (2)

120-139 Satisfactory (3)

140-167 Good (4)

168-200 Excellent (5)
